The Book of Wisdom has been called a Christian love song. The passages are rich in vivid imagery and passionate language, as you can see in this passage: May God grant me to speak as he would wish and conceive thoughts worthy of the gifts I have received since he is both guide to Wisdom and director of sages, for we are in his hand, yes, ourselves and our sayings. To find where this beautiful passage is please join us, and grow |
with us spiritually and in Wisdom, as we study this wonderful and enlightening book of the Bible.

| | Mens Club | | | It is hard to believe that the summer is almost over and soon the Mens Club will be back working hard at many parish events. The summer months make it difficult to plan any major events or projects. That is the one reason we were forced to re-schedule the poker tournament. My goal was to fill at least 4 or more tables, and we only had enough to fill three tables. If you signed up I would like to thank you for wanting to participate in this first attempt at a fun evening. The tournament will be rescheduled later this year.
During the remainder of the year we will be very busy and hosting |
several events. Again these events will help pay for further additions to the new pavilion, and the Mens Club ask you to help in any way you can.
It is a great feeling to see a new face at one of our meetings. If you are not a member, we meet the second Sunday of every month at 7:00 PM in the Parish Center. Please do not wait to be asked, just show up and you will enjoy yourself.
As a long time member and president it makes me feel good when Amy gives me a name of someone interested in attending a meeting. But when he jumps in with both feet and makes sure he is involved 110% |
that is indescribable. That has happened with our newest member, Tim Board. Tim and his family have moved here from Texas and he inquired about us with Amy. Since that time he has been a great help over the summer months. We look forward to Tim helping for many years to come.
Mark your calendar for the New Years Eve dance we are going to try to resurrect. Last years turn out was low, but we are going to give it another shot, hope to see you there. Brad Scultz

Confirmation
Classes began on August 3rd with 28 students. We have had 3 sessions, at which we reviewed our church community, the Holy Spirit and our sacraments. This week we are taking a closer look at how Baptism and Confirmation are connected.
On August 29th these students will be officially enrolled during the 11 a.m. Mass. During the preparation time we ask you look at the picture board in the vestibule on which you can see these students plus their symbol for the Holy Spirit and the human quality they chose for the Spirit. Please pray for each one of them during the next three months.

Our classes start September 12th at 9:30am and last until 10:45 a.m. If you have not yet registered, or re-registered, please call 565-5647.

| | | The Little Flower Council 6615, St. Theresas parish based council, received the coveted Star Council Award for the Fraternal Year 2003-2004 (July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2004). This is the highest Supreme Council award a local council can achieve. In order to obtain the award, our council had to have four activities in each of the following categories: Family, Church, Council, Community, and Church. So as you can see, we are a pretty active group. Oh, yes! We also must have an increase in membership and insurance members. The KC insurance program has received the highest rating in the insurance industry for the past several years.
Are you interested in saving money on your car insurance? If enough parishioners are interested, the Little Flower Council will sponsor an AARP Defensive Driving Course. We need 15 to 30 students to present the course. |
Already seven Silver Seniors have signed up for the course. This is an eight-hour course. It can be done on a weekend split over two days. The training is all classroom work. There is no driving involved with the classes. The cost is ten dollars per student. This price includes the workbook that goes with the course. State law requires a reduction in car insurance for those who successfully complete the course. The Defensive Driving Course is open to all parish members. A sign-up Sunday will be announced in the church bulletin.
The Knights of Columbus will sponsor a St. Theresas blood drive for the American Red Cross on Sunday, November 7, 2004 if there are sufficient number of donors to sign-up for the drive. The Red Cross must have at least thirty donors sign-up to donate blood to justify their expenditure of man-hours, equipment, and supplies for |
the drive. Now if you are a regular blood donor, we respectfully request you postpone donating blood until the St. Theresa blood drive. September 12, 2004 is the last date one can donate blood and still give at the St. Theresa blood drive, i.e. September 12 is fifty-six days before November 7. Sign-up for the blood drive will be the latter part of September or earlier part of October. The dates will be announced in the church bulletin.
A big thank you to all the church parishioners who have patronized the councils first Sunday of the month breakfast. We appreciate your fine support. If for whatever reason you have missed this good deal, now is the time to put it on your calendar for Sunday, September 5. We serve between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. in the Parish Center.

| | | The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Our Little Flower discussed needs we see in the community and the world and what we can do as Christian women to help meet them at our meeting in August.
Areas of interest brought up by the membership included, hunger, homelessness, Birthright, and members of the military. To help meet these needs we will be bringing paper goods for Birthright and items for care packages for servicemen and women in Iraq to our September meeting. Longer range goals include help for Our House and Habitat for Humanity.
We will continue to support our adopted daughter in Guatemala until she reaches an age where our help is no longer needed. She is now 16 and writes us the most delightful letters, full of love for her family and Jesus and the Blessed Mother. She prays for our health.
Our adopted seminarian, Dale Black, will continue to receive moral and modest financial support from our Court. His birthday is in September |
and we will send him a card and check for $15.
One of our courts goals is increasing our membership. To this end, we invite any and all interested women of the parish to attend our next meeting, which will be held September 9th at 10am in meeting room 5 of the Parish Center. In addition to collecting goods for charity we will discuss our role in Autumnfest and plans for our fall fundraisers, a bake sale to be held October 24 and a raffle for Gourmet and Tailgate Gift Baskets to be held in October.
I will close with a bakers dozen reasons why you should be a Catholic Daughter:
1) To unite with 105,000 women in the largest Catholic Organization situated throughout the USA, Puerto Rico, Virgin Island, Guam, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Saipan, 2) to gain opportunity for personal leadership development, 3) to do work in the community and your parishes, 4) to help promote the quality of life, 5) to have available to yourself and family, scholarships on all levels of education, 6) to help build future leaders through our Junior |
Catholic Daughter program, 7) to help promote the teachings of the Holy Father, 8) to reap the benefits of our many different insurance programs, 9) to receive SHARE, a quarterly magazine which has received several Catholic Press Association awards, 10) to enjoy a variety of spiritual, social and cultural activities, 11) to be able to get involved in the legislative agenda,12) to enjoy the friendship of many other Catholic women across the country and last but not least 13) we bake the best cinnamon rolls around!
